QA Engineer
Mimecast is looking for an experienced QA engineer. The QA team at Mimecast works alongside the Development and Technical Operations Group. Sitting within the QA group, this role will involve the formal system, acceptance and certification testing of all Mimecast software and associated documentation.
The ideal candidate will be someone who possesses excellent problem solving skills, has a diverse set of technical skills both in software testing and automation scripting. They must be a strong communicator and structured individual with excellent attention to detail. They must have the ability to develop effective working relationships with all areas of the business. The business is fast paced, at times pressurised, but always fun.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- The delivery and execution of System Validation, Certification and other ad-hoc test specifications
- Responsible for the generation of Project Test Plans, Test Cases and Scripts
- Hosting document reviews as required
- Responsibility for the testing and overall quality of a component of the product
- Identify and effectively communicate technical issues, risks and inter-component dependencies
- Working closely with developers and team leaders on a day-to-day basis, providing additional support in troubleshooting software issues
- Occasionally assisting other departments with customer issues concerning your areas of testing
- Keeping abreast of relevant, current and leading technological advancements with a view to improving the Mimecast QA
Skills and Experience:-
Essential
- Educated to A level or equivalent in an IT related subject
- Previous experience in a software QA role
- Worked in a structured environment with standard QA
- Capable of prioritising own workload and potentially others in a high pressured and time constrained environment
- Ability to demonstrate skills in troubleshooting and ‘thinking on your feet’
- Proven ability to work autonomously and within a cross functional team
- Thorough understanding of Testing Methodologies and practical application
- Demonstrable experience in Internet protocols, particularly SMTP, POP, HTTP & TCP/IP
- Experience with archiving, content analysis or messaging very beneficial
- Some experience of automated test tools preferable
- Working knowledge of more than one scripting / programming language
